What to Expect on the Day of CO2 Laser Treatment

The treatment will begin with topical numbing cream applied to the target areas to maximize your comfort. Once the numbing takes effect, Dr. Ackerman will meticulously guide the CO2 laser over the targeted areas, monitoring your comfort throughout. The sensation is similar to a warm rubber band snapping against your skin. The numbing cream minimizes this sensation.

The entire treatment can take 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how many areas are being treated, the size of the area, and the severity of the concerns you want to improve.

You will notice some redness, puffiness, and swelling for a few hours, but you can resume regular activities otherwise.

You can apply cold compresses for 5-10 minutes every few hours to reduce the swelling and cool your skin. Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers to avoid irritating your skin.

You can resume light exercises within a couple of days, but do not engage in strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least 1-2 weeks. Depending on the severity of the treatment, you should be able to return to work within a few days to a week.
